Sunlabob is proud to be selected as one of 5 finalists in the South East Asia category of the 2012 Sankalp Awards, the largest Social Enterprise Awards in India. Over 1000 people attended the summit and key themes across panels, workshops and round table discussions included job creation, re-imagining the current model of capitalism, and aid effectiveness.
The awards were held during the annual Sankalp Summit, the largest collaborative platform to bring together social enterprises, policy makers, academicians, investors and market players in India and South East Asia.
Aimed at recognising the most sustainable, scalable and innovative social enterprises in India and South East Asia, the Sankalp Awards received over 100 applications from across the region.
The international jury of Intellecap, organizers of the event, evaluated the applications on various parameters including operational efficiency, social impact, innovation, sustainability, scalability, market potential and entrepreneur/team profile.
Apart from pitching to the grand jury at the award finals for South East Asia, Sunlabob Director Andy Schroeter also participated in one of the summit’s panel discussion, which looked at the barriers of entry in the off-grid market, showcasing successful off-grid solutions and discussing Sunlabob's perspective on challenges and opportunities for Social Entrepreneurs in South East Asia and globally. Andy's insights contributed greatly to the panel and gave a perspective of South East Asian entrepreneurship in perspective to the predominant perspective of entrepreneurship in India.
The Sankalp Summit was indeed a wonderful opportunity for Sunlabob to learn from other experts across various fields. Sunlabob congratulates Hapinoy for winning the 2012 Sankalp Social Enterprise Award in the South East Asia category.
